Snow Removal Becomes Major Concern After Consecutive Snow Storms in Boston

Record breaking snowfall in consecutive weeks weighs down the northeast, but just what do you do with six feet of snow?

Yes, it's winter and that usually means snow, but this season has been merciless for the Northeastern U.S. So far, 2015 has brought back-to-back-to-back winter storms. And in places like Boston, frustration mounts as the city struggles to shovel out of the mess.

Snow removal is a big concern for officials as another storm is possible over the weekend. Boston still has some room left in some of the snow farms. Those are vacant lots where bulldozers take snow. The five lots also have snow melters, which are special machines made to get rid of large amounts of snow.

Boston mayor marty walsh says the city may dump the snow in the harbor as a last resort. That was common until environmental concerns halted that practice in 1990. State law prohibits snow dumping in waterways, but the practice is allowed in extreme circumstances when public safety is at risk.
