Understanding the Connection Between Optimism and Your Health

Maybe you gave your dad or best friend a high five if you watched the Buckeyes play in their championship game. Cheering for your favorite team or player can be a lot of fun, but did you know there could be health benefits attached to being a 'fan'?

Doctor Roy Buchinsky, the Director of Wellness at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, explains the health connection.

Lots of those Ohio State fans were optimistic, or hopeful, that their team would win the game. It turns out that optimism was also good for their health. A new study from researchers at the University of Illinois found that people who had an optimistic view on life had hearts that were twice as healthy as their more pessimistic friends.

So to stay healthy, stay happy!

We want to know, what are you optimistic about in the coming year?
