Administering the oath of office to U.S. Senators might not sound like a fun job, but it's one of the responsibilities of the vice president.
The vice president, who holds the second highest public office created by the constitution is also president of the Senate. Every two years, a third of the U.S. Senate is elected, and there is a formal oath taking on the Senate floor. But afterwards, the vice president meets and greets newly elected and re-elected members and their families during a mock ceremony.
