Scotland Votes on Independence - Results Update

During last week's NewsDepth we told you about the historic vote in Scotland, with its citizens considering leaving the United Kingdom.

As it turned out, more than 55 percent of the people voted to keep their nation a part of the UK. Three point six million voters made their voices heard, a record 86 percent of all eligible voters - compared to voter turnout in the United States which hasn't been higher than 60 percent in more than 50 years.

Even though Scotland will remain a part of the UK, British prime minister David Cameron says the UK has delivered on promises to transfer power away from central government in the past and it will work to do so again in the near future.

One of the biggest differences this year in Scotland was allowing 16 and 17 year olds to vote for the very first time, and polls show that many of them voted to stay in the UK.
