Ohio Headlines: Cedar Point's "New" Ride; Cubs Find Home in Ohio; Bengals Player Receives Support

An old roller coaster gets a new make-over, a pair of cubs find a new home and a football player's love for his daughter gains lots of support. These are some of the stories making news in Ohio...

Since we received a lot of letters from you about the changes at Cedar Point last week, we thought you might like an update. We told you in the last show that Cedar Point announced it will be shutting down a once popular roller coaster, the Mantis, for good at the end of the season. Well this week the amusement park released plans for the ride's transformation from the Mantis into the Rougarou, a sit-down, floorless coaster. The name Rougarou comes from an old folk tale about a sasquatch-like monster that roams the swamps of Louisiana. The ride is expected to open next summer.

Two mountain lion cubs that were rescued by firefighters in western Montana in august have a new home in Ohio. The male cubs arrived at the Columbus Zoo last week and they're staying in the zoo's hospital for now because they're still being bottle fed. Staff has named the cubs Lewis and Clark as a nod to their Montana roots. The cubs were found hiding under a burning log at just a few weeks old by a crew fighting a blaze in the Sapphire Mountains. They'll eventually move to a permanent zoo habitat once they gain their strength.

And here's a story out of Cincinnati that will really warm your heart. Devon Still, a lineman for the Cincinnati Bengals, recently learned that his four-year-old daughter, Leah, has a rare form of cancer. After learning of Leah’s diagnosis, the Bengals wanted to do something to help. They decided to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from Devon Still's jersey sales to pediatric cancer research. And others started joining in on the good cause. Another NFL coach, Sean Peyton of the New Orleans Saints bought 100 jerseys that he donated to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Devon says Leah has received cards and well wishes from people all over the globe. It looks like she might have more fans than dad!

Have you or your school participated in any fundraisers lately? If so, we want to know! Write to us with your stories and pictures, and we'll post them on our website.
