Helping Former Inmates Fix Their Finances

Every year more than 3,000 formerly incarcerated individuals return to Cuyahoga County.

They face obstacles when applying for jobs because of their criminal record, but many also lack needed job skills and even basic financial knowledge.

The Credit Builders Association wants to help with reentry through an event this Friday (August 24)  in Downtown Cleveland. "Achieving Credit Strength" will feature discussions about topics including  legal services, credit building and self-employment.

ideastream's Rick Jackson spoke with Crystal Bryant, director of the Cuyahoga County Office of Re-Entry, and entrepreneur Mansfield Frazier, founder of the Chateau Hough winery.
