The vicious cycle of poverty can be hard to escape. People in destitute situations often face roadblocks they feel cannot be overcome. What tools do they need to help themselves? Should we as a community focus on reducing poverty by changing people – or by changing social structures? Authors Philip DeVol and Eugene Krebs seek to answer those questions in their new book, "Bridges Across Every Divide." It was inspired by the Bridges Out of Poverty a community support program. ideastream's Rick Jackson spoke with the authors, as well Angellina Irizarry, a recent graduate of the program.
