Workers at Vocational Guidance Service in Cleveland's Central Neighborhood proudly support the U.S. military by sewing uniform trousers worn by women in the Army and Marine Corps.
VGS is a non-profit that provides job training and placement for people with disabilities. In the sewing department, 25 employees produce 3,000 pairs of slacks a month. Many of these workers weren’t able to join the military because of their physical or cognitive challenges, but are proud to contribute to America’s defenders. VGS has been making uniforms for the federal government for some two decades.
ideastream's Darrielle Snipes takes a look at how VGS sews hope for those who have difficulty finding and keeping a job.
