It has been an eventful few days for Cleveland Investment Banker Mike Gibbons.
Last Friday afternoon, State Treasurer Josh Mandel dropped out of the US Senate race, leaving Gibbons as pretty much the lone Republican seeking the nomination to challenge incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown in November.
There's still time for new names on the ballot - but Gibbons right now is in a remarkably good position for a first-time candidate who says that until about a year ago he'd never seriously considered running for any office, let alone the US Senate.
