Sound of Ideas Listening Tour - Sandusky & Lake Erie

Welcome to the latest stop on the Sound of Ideas Community Tour, in beautiful Sandusky, Ohio, halfway between Cleveland and Toledo, home of Cedar Point amusement park, and a terrific place, right on the shores of Lake Erie. We came here to understand the importance of the lake to the economic, social and physical health of all of us who live near it.

And it's home to some very committed residents, many of whom joined us for this program.

We set up inside the beautiful Sandusky Library, with a panel of locals to discuss all things Lake Erie. This is the second stop on The Sound of Ideas Community Tour. We kicked it off in March in East Cleveland, where we talked about health issues and heard from many in the community about their concerns. We've got more tour stops planned, so stay tuned for information on that.

We discussed how Sandusky and the greater region relies on Lake Erie for drinking water, trade, fishing, agriculture, recreation and tourism and how it is emblematic of much of Northern Ohio. And, we learned about local efforts to protect the lake from algal blooms, invasive species and pollution and about future funding concerns that might impact the work of researchers and conservationists.
