In 1979, public transit in the city of Cleveland was at an all-time high, hauling a record 125.9 million riders.
Fast forward to 2016, when Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority ridership dropped to a record low of 43.8 million riders. A seven percent decrease, just from the year before.
Earlier today, RTA CEO and General Manager Joe Calabrese sat down with ideastream's Darrielle Snipes to explain the many contributing factors to 'why' public transit ridership is seeing a dip nationally 'and' especially here in Cleveland.
