ideastream's Dan Polletta interviews the Kent-based band the Speedbumps, a folk-rock band from Kent made up of a not-so-typical mix of instruments: Erik Urycki on guitar, Sam Kristoff on cello, Kevin Martines on upright bass, Danny Jenkins and Patty Hawkins on percussion, Dan Bankhurst on mandolin and Abby Luri doing back-up vocals. The band’s latest CD is The Harbors We Seek.
And we also have the inspirational story of Humble G, a self-taught Cleveland violin virtuoso whose talents so impressed his mentors that they renamed him "humble" so he wouldn't become too full of himself. And, it worked. Humble G.'s music is that of his generation, hip-hop, but instead of lyrics full of anger and hate, he delivers messages of hope. The Speedbumps
