The Cleveland Clinic Unveils Its Top Medical Innovations Of 2020

While the eyes of the medical world are fixed on developing a vaccine for the coronavirus; and health care systems continue to battle the pandemic, there are still other groundbreaking innovations in care being developed.

For the past 18 years, The Cleveland Clinic has put together a top ten list of what it believes to be the most important medical innovations for the upcoming year. That tradition continues this year, on the show today we'll take a look at that list of innovations, speaking with some of the experts from The Cleveland Clinic who have been closely involved in those projects.

Among items on the 2021 list; a new gene therapy that targets genetic blood disorders, smartphone connected pace-maker devices, a low-tech - yet life saving new device that can stop post-partum hemmoraging in women, and as you would expect, advances in the use of telemedicine, which has been so very important during the pandemic.

Later in the program we discuss resources that exist to help voters make informed decisions about the judicial candidates on their ballots.

In this 2020 General Election, voters statewide will be making choices for judges in county and common pleas courts, all 12 districts of the Ohio Court of Appeals, and two seats on the Ohio Supreme Court.

We chat with Cleveland Municipal Court Judge C. Ellen Connally, and Dr. John Green from The Bliss Institute of Applied Politics to discuss "Judge-4-Yourself" and "Judicial Votes Count", both are websites which provide details about the candidates.

Finally, another installment of StoryCorps' and ideastream's "One Small Step" initiative.
