Tax Deductions and Politics

There's no place like home, especially when home also serves as a tax shelter. Tens of millions of taxpayers take advantage of the mortgage interest deduction, saving roughly $600 year. But some argue the government can no longer afford to let people write off the interest they pay on mortgages.
