Open Doors Academy; Statehouse Update; Family Road Trips

For disadvantaged kids to succeed, classroom education may not be enough, says Annemarie Grassi, founder and CEO of Cleveland's Open Doors Academy. She'll be testifying before a congressional commitee tomorrow about the need to provide year-round, out-of-school enrichment programming to give poor students the same opportunities wealthy students have. The strategy works at Open Doors: Almost all of its students go to college. Grassi joins host Mike McIntyre to preview her testimony

Then, we'll check in with Karen Kasler for our weekly statehouse update.

Don't make me stop this show! We'll look at the history of the family road trip and talk to author Rich Ratay about the importance of the journey, not just the destination.
