The ongoing attack on our democracy as we prepare to transfer power from President Donald Trump, who lost the election, to President-Elect Joe Biden. The ascendant movement for racial justice in the aftermath of the deaths of unarmed Black people, killed by police. And the coronavirus pandemic and its fallout, from the health of our loved ones to the health of our economy. It's also made many rethink their priorities and paths in life.
Later this hour, our David C. Barnett talks with Brendan Ring, whose beloved Nighttown in Cleveland Heights has been closed for months due to the pandemic, about his decision to sell his beloved restaurant and surroudning properties.
Also on the program is Dr. Mark Cohen, a Case Western Reserve University nuerologist, who previews tonight's Science Cafe conversation on dangerous diseases that are capable of zoonotic transmission as well. These prion diseases are rare, but deadly, think Mad Cow Disease.
Our first guests are a Cleveland power couple. Lee Fisher is the dean of the Cleveland Marshall College of Law and a former Ohio Attorney General and Lietenant Governor. And Peggy Zone Fisher, who hails from a prominent Cleveland political family, is the CEO of the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, which aims to combat racism through educational programs.
They're being honored this year by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation with the Richard Pogue Award for Excellence in Community Leadership and Engagement. Also part of the conversation is Carter Strang, the President of The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation.
