Examining racial murders of the Civil Rights era, and drawing connections to hate crimes of today

Hank Klibanoff is a professor at Emory University in Georgia who’s dedicated much of his life to examining the history of racially motivated killings in the south.

He’s the founder of the Georgia Civil Rights Cold Cases Project, looking back at murders during the civil rights era.

He also hosts the ‘Buried Truths’ podcast, which chronicles some of the cold cases he’s looked at and examines why they’re still relevant today.

Klibanoff recently came to town and spoke at the City Club of Cleveland about his work.

This forum originally took in June, but was pre-empted as WKSU and Ideastream brought you breaking news coverage of the US Supreme Court’s decision on the Dobb’s versus Jackson case. 

It’s an important – and timely forum however, as we continue to see similarities of those murders from the 50s and 60s in cases still happening in the 21 ^st century.
