Conservative Gail Larrow and Liberal Maria Gigante take "One Small Step"

Gail Larrow and Maria Gigante have totally different political views, but they recently sat down to try to find common ground in a new ideastream and StoryCorps project called, One Small Step, which asks people to find the humanity in their opposition. In a short excerpt of their 40-minute-long virtual conversation, the two discuss what’s behind their beliefs, and the division in our country.

This year, ideastream and five other NPR member stations are participanting in the StoryCorps project. This month, we'll air excerpts from some of the conversations that have happened so far. This conversation was facilitated and produced by Coordinating Producer Rachel Rood. There's still time to sign up for the project by filling out a questionnaire online.
