Woody Guthrie: Hard Travelin'

Balladeer Woody Guthrie is recognized as the father of a "social commentary" style of songwriting that's influenced performers from Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen to Ani DiFranco. He wrote such classic American tunes as "This Land is Your Land", "So Long, it's Been Good To Know You" and "Oklahoma Hills". But the true tale of his life and work has been shrouded in mythology.

Woody Guthrie --- Hard Travelin' tells the story of Woody's life and legacy through his diaries, interviews with family and friends, and rare archival recordings, as well as new interpretations of his music. You'll hear how "This Land is Your Land" was written out of Guthrie's anger with the prevailing pop music scene. Woody's friends share personal stories that reveal new facets of the man, while son Arlo and daughter Nora talk about growing-up in the shadow of a formidable career.

Narrator Tim Robbins is your guide through some hilarious and heartbreaking stories about one of the most important musical artists of the 20th century.
