The Cleveland Orchestra Live from Public Square

Giancarlo Guerrero will conduct The Cleveland Orchestra on Wednesday, July 2, at Public Square in downtown Cleveland. The concert begins at 9 p.m. and will include works by Leroy Anderson, Hector Berlioz and Johann Strauss II as well as the perennial favorite, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “1812” Overture, followed by a fireworks display, weather permitting. In addition to its 9 p.m. concert, The Cleveland Orchestra will also present a pre-concert festival of musical entertainment on Public Square, beginning at 4 p.m. The Cleveland Orchestra’s “Star-Spangled Spectacular Concert and Festival” will be hosted by ideastream’s Dee Perry, and the 9 p.m. concert will be broadcast live on 90.3 WCPN and WCLV 104.9 FM.

This year’s concert will celebrate the bicentennial of Cuyahoga County. The Cleveland Orchestra and Cuyahoga County will celebrate two hundred years of progress in our community. The pre-concert festival will feature performances by Cleveland-area musicians and hands-on visual arts projects for children.

The “Star-Spangled Spectacular Concert and Festival” are sponsored by the citizens of Cuyahoga County and the Board of County Commissioners through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. Additional support is provided by The Cleveland Foundation, The Avenue at Tower City Center, and media partner WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN ideastream.
