Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards 2008 Ceremony

Founded by Cleveland philanthropist Edith Anisfield-Wolf, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards are known by many as the “Black Pulitzer” of book awards. Tonight we hear from the winners of the 2008 awards, taped before a live audience last night at the Cleveland Play House. This year’s winners are Junot Diaz, author of The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao; Mohsin Hamid, author of The Reluctant Fundamentalist; and lifetime achievement winner William Melvin Kelley. Also on the program was a secret winner – Ayaan Hirsi Ali for her memoir Infidel.
