Your Answers: What happens at your school library if you return a book late?

In this episode, we hear the story of a man who finally returns a library book 77 years overdue! We want to know: “What happens at your school library if you return a book late?”

---

At my school nothing much happens when you return a book late. But at our community library every day you are late you have to pay a fine. So this keeps adding up until you have a lot of money due.

—Madison & Morgan, Chagrin Falls Intermediate School

Dear NewsDepth,

If I return a book late, I will first receive a warning from the librarian, then if you do not turn it in next week you will get sent home a paper saying to return it. Next week, if you don't turn it in you will be charged money. The first offer is $10 then $20, $30 and so on. And that is what happens when you don't turn in a library book.

—Lukas, Central Trail Elementary School

Dear NewsDepth,

If we forget to turn in a library book we get a paper to help remind us to turn the book back in. But if we can’t find it you're going to have to pay like other libraries.

— Bless, Silver Lake Elementary

Our library has lots of book sections. When we return a book late, we renew it or give it back to the library. There is no fee or anything like that. If you spill something on it there would be a fee.

— Callan, East Woods Intermediate School

I don't have a real school library, but I do have a class library. We are allowed to take a book and read however many times we want to. But we do have to return it sometime.
