Senate Tie Breaker

VICE PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE HAD THE LAST WORD.

HELLO EVERYONE. I’M RICK JACKSON. THANKS FOR JOINING US.

THE U S SENATE WAS AT A STANDSTILL LAST WEEK, WHILE WHEN VOTING ON SOME
IMPORTANT LEGISLATION.

IT HAS TO DEAL WITH CREDIT CARDS AND BANK ACCOUNTS, SOMETHING ALMOST
EVERY ADULT HAS.

SEE, WHEN AN ADULT SIGNS UP FOR A CREDIT CARD OR BANK ACCOUNT, THE BANKS AND CREDIT CARD COMPANIES USED TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THEM SIGN AN
AGREEMENT THAT SAYS THEY COULD NOT SUE THEM IN COURT, IF THE ADULT RAN INTO A PROBLEM.

SOME PEOPLE THINK IT’S GOOD FOR CONSUMERS TO BE ABLE TO FIGHT THE COMPANIES IF THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT NOT EVERYONE. AND BOTH SIDES CAME TO
THE TABLE WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE 100 SENATORS TO VOTE – BECAUSE THERE WAS A 50-50 TIE!

TO DECIDE WHICH WAY TO GO, VICE PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE STEPPED UP TO VOTE AS WELL.  AND HE SIDED WITH THE GROUP THAT WANTED TO END THE NO-SUE CLAUSES.
AFTERWARD HE SENT OUT THIS TWEET: “PROUD TO CAST THE TIE BREAKING VOTE TONIGHT TO STAND UP FOR EVERYDAY CONSUMERS AND COMMUNITY BANKS”
THIS IS THE 5TH TIE THAT PENCE HAS HAD TO BREAK.

THE LAST VICE PRESIDENT, JOE BIDEN, DIDN’T HAVE TO BREAK ANY TIES IN THE EIGHT YEARS THAT HE WORKED UNDER FORMER PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA.
