Ohio Headlines: March Madness to Columbus, Carousel Finds New Home, Zoo Welcomes Trio

MARCH MADNESS IS COMING TO COLUMBUS. THE CITY WON A BID AMONG SEVEN CITIES TO HOST THE 2018 NCAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT.

NATIONAL SEMI-FINAL AND FINAL GAMES WILL BE PLAYED AT NATIONWIDE ARENA, AFTER THE WINNING BID WAS SUBMITTED BY THE CITY OF COLUMBUS, AND OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.
THE ESTIMATES ARE THAT A WOMEN'S FINAL FOUR COULD GENERATE UP TO 20 MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE HOST CITY. IT'S A BIG WIN FOR COLUMBUS, AND THE CITY'S HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY-- WHICH ALSO HOPES TO LAND THE 2016 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION.

A CAROUSEL MAKES ITS WAY BACK TO OHIO AFTER 45 YEARS.

THE CAROUSEL DEBUTED IN 1910 AND WAS ORIGINALLY PART OF THE EUCLID BEACH AMUSEMENT PARK IN THE COLLINWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD OF CLEVELAND.

AFTER THE PARK CLOSED IN 1969, THE CAROUSEL WAS SOLD TO A PARK IN MAINE.

BUT, NOW, IT'S BACK AND I TOOK A VISIT TO ITS NEW HOME THIS WEEK - THE WESTERN RESERVE HISTORICAL SOCIETY IN CLEVELAND.

IT UNDERWENT A LONG RESTORATION PROCESS AT THE CAROUSEL WORKS COMPANY IN MANSFIELD.

THE CAROUSEL WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AFTER A GRAND OPENING CEREMONY ON SUNDAY.

THE CINCINNATI ZOO WELCOMED A PLEASANT SURPRISE LATE LAST WEEK...

ZOO OFFICIALS SAY THEIR AFRICAN LION, IMANI, HAS GIVEN BIRTH TO THREE CUBS.

SCIENTISTS AT THE ZOO SAY THEY COULD NOT EVEN BE POSITIVE THAT IMANI WAS PREGNANT... UNTIL THE CUBS WERE BORN.

IT'S BEEN NEARLY 15 YEARS SINCE LION CUBS HAVE BEEN SEEN AT THE CINCINNATI ZOO.

THE ZOO WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE NEW MOM AND HER BEHAVIOR WITH THE CUBS, BEFORE DETERMINING WHEN TO INTRODUCE THEM TO THE REST OF THE LIONS.
