NewsDepth Inbox: Season 49 - Episode #19

We asked you to tell us if you thought residents of the disappearing Louisiana island should be forced to move to higher grounds.

Carter, Kensington Intermidiate: "The island residents should not have to move because it might be hard and the kids might not like it because they will lose all of their friends. I would hate it if I lost my friends, so they should not have to move somewhere else they should be allowed to stay there."

Tniyah, Chardon Hills Magnet: "Yes, I think people in Louisiana should be forced to leave. I think that because if they don't leave their clothes, food, water, pets and homes could get flooded."

Joel, Orchard Hill Intermediate: "I think that they should be able to stay there if they want to because it is their right to be able to stay there if they want to. Plus if it was your dream house and you moved and the land did not get destroyed by the water and they moved away and someone else moved there before you move back it would not be fair."

Alyssa, Strausser Elementary: "In my opinion, I think the residents should have the choice of moving. They should have the choice because it's their house and their money, if they want to move somewhere else. If their house floods it's their fault for not moving. It's tough to move, you leave your friends and you made that your home. Those are some reasons why I think they should have the choice to move."

Anna, Wilson Elementary: "I think the people in Louisiana should be able to stay. I think this because it is where they grew up and their great great-grandparents. Also why I think they should be able to stay is because they can raise their homes more.  That is why I think they should be able to stay."
