NewsDepth Inbox: Season 48 - Episode #19

NEWSDEPTH QUESTION OF THE WEEK:  In this week's episode, we learned about the rush you get from eating sugary treats. Write to us and tell us when you get a sugar craving what can you do or eat instead?

Arianna, Whitney Elementary:  If I had a sugar craving what I would do and eat is I would either calm down and relax or, think about healthy food to get that sugar craving down. What I would eat is lots of my favorite healthy food to also get that sugar craving down.

Emily and Sofia, Independence Primary School:  You can eat fresh fruits and vegetables instead of eating sugar or candy.  For example, you can eat pears, apples, oranges, grapes and strawberries.  For vegetables you can eat carrots, peppers, cucumbers, avocados, and corn. You should also exercise 30 minutes a day. You can run, swim, walk, and play sports. This is why you should eat fruits and vegetables instead of sugar and candy.

Austin, St. Francis de Sales School:  When I get a sugar craving, I would simply eat an apple. I would do this because first of all, because apples taste amazing! Also, they taste very sweet, but they don’t have too much sugar.

Katie and Ali, East Woods Elementary:  We think that a healthy snack is strawberries, because they fill you up with protein and give you energy to go play with friends outside.

Olivia, Northfield Elementary:  When I have a sugar craving I like to eat something that does not have as much sugar as candy or any other sweets. For example, graham crackers! I sometimes eat stuff that tastes sweet like grape or strawberries. At my house we have a rule that we are only allowed to have one dessert after dinner so that I do not eat too much sugar and after school.   I can only have one snack if it is not healthy. That is what I do to stay healthy!
