Inbox: Give Us Your "State Of The School" Address!

Last week, we learned about Trump's State of the Union address. We asked you to give us your "State of the School." Here are some of your great speeches!

Colton, Mulberry Elementary School in Milford: If I could give my "State of the School" address I would focus on bullies. There are always many bullies in every grade and in every school. The problem is everywhere on the globe specifically America. Bullies in my opinion are mean and they don't care about others around them. This is something that I would do if I was the principal.

Cord, Vangorden Elementary School in Hamilton: The state of our school is strong. One of the things we do best at our school is finding ways to share kindness. In fact, one of our projects is a kindness scavenger hunt. During the scavenger hunt, we can check off acts of kindness to see how many we can get. Another reason our school is strong is that we share. Many people share food at lunch and supplies in class. Even though our school is strong, there are some areas that we need to improve on. One area of improvement is reducing bullying. Nobody deserves to be bullied and we have to keep trying to improve. Another area of improvement is cleaning up bad language. Since we are working on kindness, hopefully this can decrease bullying and bad language. Our school is strong because we know our strengths and weaknesses and can work on them to improve.

Lucy, Shaw Elementary School in Beavercreek: My state of the school is: I think that all schools should have at least twenty minutes of recess every day. Some schools don't get enough time to just relax, like me. Kids deserve twenty minutes to relax! All schools should also have at least 4 teachers in each grade. It makes it a LOT easier on the teachers. That is, if the schools can afford it.

Marvin, Barberton Middle School in Barberton: I'm passionate about that my school should have yoga before and after test and should have recess every Friday, or have fun Friday for some exercise and for hanging out with friends.

Johanna, J & G Snow School in Berea: I don't like how the school took away cursive writing. People need to know how to write in cursive so that when we get older, we can put our signature on our applications. I also dislike how the teachers don't take bulling seriously. There should be no bullies allowed in any public schools. What I do like about the schools is that the teachers are teaching students more on how to do money management. Also, the good things about teachers is that they are teaching students how/ what they need to do to get to college and how to graduate.
