How Did 'Black Friday' Get Its Name?

Lots of people got their exercise last week, by heading to the mall. An estimated 87 million Americans went shopping on what's called "Black Friday". Believe it or not, retailers haven't always loved the term, "Black Friday."

When it was coined in 1869, it meant something very different.

So why do retailers embrace it now?
