Buckeye Beat kicks off in Columbus, with a little update on our favorite Ohio polar bear cub. The polar bear cub is now five months old. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium released this video of the sleeping beauty.
She weighs about four pounds and measures 16 inches. Her eyes are not fully open yet. She even purrs as she tosses and turns, next to a stuffed animal.
Zoo staff says she has started trying to stand up on all fours, especially when she's ready for her next meal. They have been monitoring the her progress around the clock,
If you're like me, maybe you wake up every morning and peak outside to see if winter has come a'knockin...
Well, when we finally do see some snowfall, several Ohio districts will be clearing the roads in style, all thanks to some artwork from schools. Students from schools all across the state helped add some color to snow removal with the Ohio Department of Transportation's Paint a Plow program.
From showcasing school pride to displaying a winter theme, the program allowed students to showcase their creativity. As you can see there's plenty of amazing artwork that will add a few more smiles this winter season.
And finally, let's take a look at one of Northeast Ohio's celebrated holiday traditions, the Glow exhibit at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Interspersed between twinkling trees, and much admired by visitors of all ages are some pretty fantastic gingerbread houses, winners of a competition held by the botanical garden.
Three of the winning entries were created by students at Garfield High School in Akron, who traveled to the garden with their art teacher to admire their handiwork on display for all to see.
Great teamwork, indeed. The houses and the rest of the exhibit will be on display throughout the holiday season.
