NPR Presents Michel Martin: Going There in Cleveland October 18
Michel Martin, weekend host of All Things Considered on NPR, will be at the Westfield Insurance™ Studio Theatre inside the Idea Center at Playhouse Square to host Michel Martin: Going There on Tuesday, October 18 at 7pm. Join Michel Martin, NPR and ideastream for an evening of conversation, storytelling and performance around the often taboo topic of race in America.
Most people believe that understanding only comes with information, relationship and dialogue. To that end, NPR and ideastream are collaborating to host a unique live event to engage in an open and honest conversation about race – a conversation that explores how race affects our lives today through the prism of specific issues in Northeast Ohio. Members of the audience and those who participate in our social media conversation will have the chance to address questions they’ve always wondered about, but have been afraid to ask or have not had the opportunity to ask. This will be that rare opportunity to ask questions and hear informed perspectives that could create the foundation for clarity and mutual understanding.
This 90-minute program will be a news-driven storytelling live event, accented by a musical and/or theatrical performance. This event will not be radio playing out on stage. Rather it will be a dynamic, interactive live experience where the issue is analyzed through the narrative and dialogue of people who are living it.
Tickets are $10 and are on sale now. Doors open at 6:30pm and admission includes a post-program reception.
This event is sponsored on a national level by The Kresge Foundation.
