Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights-University Heights School Districts last week announced within hours of each other their picks for new superintendent.
CH-UH's choice, Elizabeth Kirby, was also a Shaker Height's finalist – causing some in Shaker to question the timing.
On Thursday the Shaker Heights School Board closed online public comments several hours early and announced David Glasner will become the new superintendent.
The Shaker teachers union President John Morris says residents had two nights of "meet and greets" and 22-hours to comment online. He says the board chose the best candidate after a long interview process.
“We are talking about one component. So, we are talking about interviews with staff, interviews with the collective bargaining unit, interviews with students, interviews with administrators and multiple interviews with the board.
Glasner has been with Shaker for five years, most recently serving as interim high school principal.
