Policy Check Up For Winter

If someone slips and falls on your walkway, will that injury be covered under your homeowners policy? The Ohio Department of Insurance says Ohioans should check their insurance policies to make sure it is. And check your city's snow-removal statutes to make sure you are complying with those rules too. And the insurance department says before you take the ski slopes or lace up your skates, check to make sure your health and homeowners insurance will cover you or your property. If you have a snowmobile, it typically isn't covered under homeowners, renters or auto insurance policies so the insurance department advises you to arrange for special coverage for it. And if you have a snow plow blade for your truck, the department of insurance says you will likely need to look into getting a commercial auto policy before charging others to plow their driveways and parking lots.
