Holly Schoenstein
Digital EditorHolly joins the “Election Protection” project at WKSU 89.7-FM as digital editor after devoting 20 or so years of her career to journalism, communications, and business. After years of working in business at large corporations, nonprofits, and universities, while reporting and taking photos for a publisher in Cleveland on the side, she left the corporate world to take on journalism on a larger scale and pursue her master’s degree in journalism at Kent State University. Her career has allowed her to work as a reporter, editor, photographer, videographer and in social media for newspapers, magazines, radio stations, and websites around the area from the Akron Beacon Journal, The (Youngstown) Vindicator, Portage County’s Record-Courier, and the newsweeklies the Stow Sentry, Tallmadge Express, Streetsboro Gateway News, Aurora Advocate, The Suburbanite, Westlaker Times, Lorain County Times, and magazines affiliated with Kent State. Her work in reporting, photography and videography covering crime, government, public affairs, politics, business, education and human interest stories has earned her numerous awards for excellence in journalism. Nowadays she focuses much of her efforts on digital editing for WKSU’s news team (for which she worked as a graduate student); media relations and marketing for the radio station’s membership department; and teaching English as a Second Language to students overseas. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and studying foreign languages. Her current interest, in addition to Spanish, is Mandarin.
