On the Table at WKSU
On Wednesday, Oct. 3, WKSU invites Kent State community members who live, work, or attend school in Summit or Medina counties to come to the WKSU Broadcast Center for one of two On the Table Greater Akron free events – lunch at noon with News Director Andrew Meyer or a snack at 3 p.m. with Program Director Ele Ellis. This is part of a larger initiative that will inspire meal-time get-togethers across the area. Noon participants will be provided a small lunch and the afternoon gathering will have light refreshments.
These events are intended to be conversations – like you would have around the common ground of a meal-time table – and there are only 12 openings for each time. On the Table is an opportunity for you to talk to other people who spend significant time in Summit and Medina counties about issues most affecting the region. Conversations at WKSU this year will focus on two discussion points, part of a list of issues identified as concerning for our community during the 2017 On the Table event: Economic Issues & Poverty and Equity & Social Inclusion.
This project is part of On the Table, a national civic engagement initiative supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and initially developed by The Chicago Community Trust. Find out more at www.onthetableakron.com. Reserve your space at the table now by using the links below:
