The new ad airing statewide features a Columbus ophthalmologist telling viewers she supports Republican Gov. Kasich because he’s expanded Medicaid services, increased funding for rape crisis centers and more.

“John Kasich works for women," she says in the ad. "He works for me.”

But Sharen Neuhardt, the Democrat running for Lieutenant Governor says she finds the ad featuring an eye doctor insulting to Ohio’s women.

"This election is really getting into fairy tale status when John Kasich can put out an ad talking about how great he is on women’s issues," Neuhardt said.

Neuhardt said Kasich has put restrictions on doctors so they can’t talk about abortion options at those rape crisis centers. And she said Kasich has not backed bills to give equal pay to women for equal work or to raise the minimum wage.
