The Health Unit at ideastream attended this year's Cleveland Clinic Innovations Summit, where genomic medicine was a large focus. Genomic medicine involves sequencing a patient's genome, or entirety of their DNA, and using that information to develop more targeted, precise therapies.

The Health Unit was able to interview Dr. Eric Green, Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the NIH, about progress in the genomic field. In a two-way debrief on Ideas, reporter Lecia Bushak discusses what we learned in the interview and at the summit with Managing Producer of Health, Kay Colby.
