Five Things To Do In NEO: BorderLight Festival, Art Shows And More

Summer art shows, festivals and exhibitions continue to pop up throughout Northeast Ohio. From a children’s art show in Summit County to the Westlake – Bay Village Rotary Art Festival, here are five events to enjoy this week.

Westlake - Bay Village Rotary Art Festival

The Westlake – Bay Village Rotary Art Festival is Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., on the grounds west of Westlake Porter Public Library. This year’s featured artist is Eileen Dorsey, an artist known for her meditative oil landscape paintings. Dorsey was also Cleveland Magazine’s “Best Artist” of 2020, 2019 and 2018.

Siaara Freeman's 'Black Women & Femmes: A Lineage Of Language'

Cleveland Public Theatre presents Siaara Freeman’s “Black Women & Femmes: A Lineage Of Language” Friday, July 30, 7 p.m. The event showcases spoken word artists , as well as artists of a variety of other mediums to celebrate Black women, girls and femmes. Some featured artists include writers Ali Black, Natasha T. Miller and Meaca Moore.

Annual Children's Art Show

Up Front Art Space, a gallery in Cuyahoga Falls, presents its third annual children’s art show on Friday, July 30. The exhibition runs through August 22. The exhibition showcases the work of young juried artists of any medium between the ages of 1 and 17.

'¡Celebramos!'

Metro West Community Development presents " ¡Celebramos!" a day to enjoy food, performances and local art demonstrations at Roberto Clemente Park. It is also the ribbon-cutting of the new mural on the small building in the park that was created by artist Angelica Pozo. The free event runs Saturday, July 31, 1 - 5 p.m.

BorderLight Festival

The 2021  BorderLight International Theatre + Fringe Festival opened July 22 and runs through July 31. The festival is completely remote and features a selection of on-demand theater performances, virtual events and self-guided audio adventures. The work is a blend created by local, national and international independent theater makers.
