The new year brings another reopening in Northeast Ohio’s cultural community after a pandemic closure. The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) announced  today it’s reopening its doors starting on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day and on Tuesdays to Sundays going forward.

The reopening follows a similar announcement earlier this week from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Both institutions closed in November.

“We will reopen with the modified hours that we enacted in June, reserved and timed ticketing,” said director William Griswold in a news release. “No large groups will be permitted, and families will be encouraged to remain together during their visit.”

Public and staff health concerns prompted a previous shutdown from mid-March through June. During that time, the museum consulted with local health officials and established COVID-19 safety protocols.

CMA is not planning any in-person events in the near future, though a  virtual event in honor of the MLK holiday will take place Monday.
