5 Things To Do In NEO: Apollo's Fire, 'Moby Doc' And More Music

While more and more musical events are transitioning from the screen to outside, many documentaries and interviews with musicians still remain virtual. From in-person outdoor concerts to virtual discussions, here are five opportunities to enjoy music in Northeast Ohio this week.

Riverdog

Jim Wadsworth Productions presents Nellie McKay's outdoor concert on Sunday, May 30, at Riverdog in Wakeman, Ohio, five miles west of Oberlin. McKay is a pianist, songwriter, singer and actress who has appeared on television shows like "Conan," "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The View."

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Shelby Morrison interviews Jewel and Buffy Sainte-Marie this Thursday, May 27, at 7 p.m. The musicians review and discuss their careers live on Facebook and YouTube.

Oberlin College and Conservatory

Oberlin College and Conservatory’s Center for Convergence hosts the online " Crafting Change" symposium through June 18. Developed by Technology in Music and Related Arts (TIMARA) technical director Abby Aresty, the symposium lasts four weeks and provides multiple programs. The " Crafting Sound" concert and panel discussion examine the technology of sound and premiere Friday, May 28. 

Cinematheque

The film " Moby Doc" virtually opens at Cinematheque from Friday, May 28, through Thursday, June 17. The surrealist biographical documentary depicts the life and career of famous musician Moby. The movie features interviews with David Lynch and David Bowie as well as concert footage.

Apollo's Fire

Apollo's Fire presents " Lift Every Voice," an outdoor concert featuring members of their MOSAIC project, which seeks to guide and support young musicians of color, and the youth chorus Musettes Ensemble. The concerts go live on Sunday, May 30, and Monday, May 31, at the Conway Pavilion.
