It was on this date in 1893 that the Ohio legislature passed a park act granting park boards expanded authority to appropriate parklands and issue bonds. Cleveland appointed a new board to adopt a general plan for parks in each of the main sections of the city. This park system would eventually become the Cleveland Metroparks. And it was on this date in 1923 that Firestone began making inflatable tires.
