NARAL/Pro-Choice Ohio wants the phone calls and e-mails between Ohio Right to Life and the Department of Health, which regulates abortion clinics in Ohio and has closed down several of them. Cleveland lawyer Subodh Chandra says it’s a routine records request.

“There’s really nothing unusual about it at all, other than the fact that it would expose the degree to which the Department of Health is being unduly influenced by Ohio Right to Life," Chandra said.

Mike Gonidakis is the president of Ohio Right to Life.

“If we truly had any so-called undue influence, Cincinnati Planned Parenthood would have been closed last month," Gonidakis said. "Unfortunately, they’re still open.”

Chandra says the suit was filed with the Ohio Supreme Court after a records request in October was ignored.
