Across the country, there's a growing push to get hospitals to follow prescribed treatment guidelines for heart attack and stroke patients. These guidelines, if followed correctly, have shown to save lives. They've been around for nearly a decade, but they're not uniformly followed. MetroHealth Medical Center has been part of the American Heart Association's Get with the Guidelines program for about five years and the hospital has just been recognized with the Heart Association's top award in three categories: heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke. ideastream®'s Eric Wellman spoke with MetroHealth cardiologist Dr. Bill Lewis.
