Cosgrove did not give a reason for the halt in the talks, but wrote that the decision was mutual between the two institutions.
Case Western Reserve has maintained it's affiliation with both the Clinic and University Hospitals, despite rumors that the affiliation with University Hospitals was at the root of the Clinic's move toward an affiliation with Columbia. Pamela Davis, Dean of Case Western Reserve Medical School says that's a trend she believes is good for Cleveland and hopes will continue.
