Governor Reduces Convictions For Akron Mom

Governor Kasich says Kelley Williams Bolar’s two felony convictions are too excessive for the crimes she committed.

Williams Bolar wants clemency from the Governor, saying her felony convictions threatened her efforts to earn her teacher’s license. She now works as a teacher’s aid.

Williams Bolar’s case attracted attention statewide earlier this year when she served nine days in jail after being convicted of two felony counts of falsifying records by using her Father’s address to send her children to a school outside the city where she lived at the time.

Just last week, the Ohio Parole Board unanimously recommended against clemency for Williams Bolar, but the Governor has decided to reduce the two felonies to two first degree misdemeanors, thereby making it easier for the Akron area Mom to have a second chance.
