Voters in Copley-Fairlawn approved a 23 percent tax hike to help the school district balance its budget. It passed by a roughly 2-1 margin. It was one of a handful of money issues on local ballots Tuesday in a state-sanctioned special election day. Elsewhere, voters were not so generous. In Norton they rejected a bond issue that would have helped pay for school construction. Levies in Highland, Buckeye, Rootstown, North Olmsted and Avon all failed. Voters in Pepper Pike rejected an income tax increase.
