The view from the Idea Center
Take a deep breath, Noonish readers, preferably three feet away from someone who’s sneezing, coughing or showing other signs of being germy. I’m taking you on a tour of the rapidly-evolving coronavirus stories in play today.
First, about your 401(k). Five minutes after the opening bell on Wall Street, stock prices in the S&P 500 slid 7 percent, triggering an automatic pause in trading to allow coronavirus-spooked investors to take their own deep breaths and settle down. Both the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average were down around 5 percent when I last checked.
Now, about your coronavirus questions. Thanks for trusting us with your concerns. ideastream’s Lisa Ryan is going to bat for you, putting your questions to our region’s health experts. We’ll continue posting answers on our website and sharing on the air. And keep the questions coming!
Representatives from local hospitals will join Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson to talk about how they and the city are preparing for the likely appearance of the coronavirus. Tune in to “All Things Considered” later, staring at 4 p.m., for those details.
See you bright and early on the radio tomorrow,
Amy Eddings
