The winner will be announced on WCLV Monday, June 6 at 7:20 a.m. EDT and posted here. Your four contenders are:

  1. Wain, the 32-year-old wombat living at the Satsukiyama Zoo in Ikeda City, Japan, who has been certified by Guinness World Records as the oldest wombat in captivity ever. Wain eats and naps in the sun. His diet consists of grass, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, apples, and carrots;
  2. The kitten recently rescued by firefighters from the New Mexico wildfires. They gave the feline to a volunteer from the San Diego Humane Society team that travels across the U.S. to rescue animals in dangerous situations;
  3. Molly, the guinea pig belonging to a resident of Dombovar, Hungary. Molly distinguished herself by scoring 4 slam dunks in 30 seconds, breaking a Guinness World Record. Molly uses 1.7-inch-diameter plastic spheres and a tiny basket. Her owner said “Molly absolutely loves to play basketball.”
  4. The dog helped to shore while swimming in Lake Michigan off Chicago’s Ohio Street beach over the Memorial Day weekend.  The dog was struggling in choppy waters about 60 yards from shore when a man jumped into the lake from the rocky embankment and swam out to the dog, directing it towards land.  The man’s friends helped pull the dog onto the shore, where the canine was reunited with its owners.
