Winter is almost here and Northeast Ohio can use the color provided by a few art exhibitions on view, in addition to a couple of holiday favorites on stage. Here are five arts and culture options to add to your to-do list this week.

"David King: Transience and the Gift of Curiousity"

Retired Chagrin Falls High School art teacher David King unveils new paintings at Hedge Gallery in the colorful exhibition " David King: Transience and the Gift of Curiousity." King's surreal interpretations of his family's home movies is on view now through Jan. 1, 2022.

"Amahl and the Night Vistors"

Cleveland Opera Theater stages Gian Carlo Menotti's holiday classic " Amahl and the Night Visitors." Based on Italian folk tales of the Nativity and Epiphany, the production travels to various Cuyahoga County venues Dec. 17-19.

"More is More: Visual Richness in Contemporary Art"

The Akron Art Museum presents an exhibition of Ohio artists in the salon style presentation, " More is More: Visual Richness in Contemporary Art." Aiming to delight visitors with its curious details, the exhibit is on view through March 27, 2022.

"A Christmas Carol"

Ebenezer Scrooge returns to the Mimi Ohio Theatre in Playhouse Square with Great Lakes Theater's take on the Charles Dickens classic, " A Christmas Carol." Scrooge's wild night of ghosts and redemption is on stage now through Thursday, Dec. 23.

"Derrick Adams: LOOK"

The Cleveland Museum of Art spotlights Brooklyn artist Derrick Adams' vibrant paintings of wigs on mannequin heads in " Derrick Adams: LOOK." Using a geometric style, Adams depicts these inanimate objects with a dynamic spirit, which are on view now through May 29, 2022.
