The Fourth of July is Sunday, and there is much to do in Northeast Ohio throughout the holiday week. From the Cleveland Orchestra’s opening summer concert to a family hike through the Mentor Marsh, here are five things to enjoy in NEO.
The Cleveland Orchestra
The Cleveland Orchestra opens its Blossom season this weekend, July 3 and 4 at 8 p.m., with “An American Celebration.” The event is their first public performance in over a year and will feature patriotic music and fireworks.
Summer Splash in the Square
The Cleveland Foundation kicks off its Summer Splash in The Square program Thursday, July 1, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The program takes place at Public Square and will run through August 15. It features daily children’s activities like fountain playtime, chalk art, mini-basketball and more. Cleveland musician Bob Frank will also perform on site Thursday.
Peninsula Flea
The Peninsula Flea at Heritage Farms is Saturday, July 3, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The market hosts many vendors who sell handmade, repurposed and vintage items in the spacious farm setting. There will be live music for a few hours, too.
Stars & Stripes Glass Painting
The Busy Bee Pottery & Arts Studio in Mentor hosts a patriotic glass painting event Friday, July 2, 6 – 7:30 p.m. Attendees will paint a wine glass or bottle that can be taken home after the class.
Family Hike
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History hosts a hike at Mentor Marsh Sunday, July 4, 2 p.m. Hikers are encouraged to look for red, white and blue natural life while enjoying the family-friendly event.
