The holidays are upon us as are a number of Christmas and New Year's Eve offerings online from the Northeast Ohio arts and culture scene.
Here are five virtual events to consider from area arts and cultural institutions.
Apollo's Fire
Cleveland's Baroque orchestra Apollo's Fire virtually shares its acclaimed holiday production, " Christmas on Sugarloaf Mountain." Celebrating the American immigrant experience, this archived concert features fiddlers, dulcimers and singers performing with the Celtic flair of an Appalachian Christmas.
A Christmas Story House
Fans of the film, "A Christmas Story," often flock to the Tremont home-turned-museum where the movie was shot. Now fans can take a peak inside virtually with an interactive scavenger hunt from A Christmas Story House & Museum.
Canton Palace Theatre
Cleveland-born singer-songwriter Jim Brickman presents his live virtual tour, " Comfort & Joy at Home," in support of the Canton Palace Theatre. The interactive virtual concerts take place December 23 through January 2, featuring music from his new holiday album "Soothe Christmas."
Mercury Theatre Company
Based on the campus of Notre Dame College, the Mercury Theatre Company presents an online holiday production of the Disney hit " High School Musical Jr." Mercury's award-winning Junior Company performs the hour-long production online December 25 and 26 at 8 p.m. and December 27 at 6 p.m.
Nighttown
The Cleveland Heights jazz club takes its annual New Year's Eve show with trumpeter Dominick Farinacci online for a special livestream. " Resolutions: A Swingin' New Year's Eve Concert" also features jazz pianist Joe Hunter and vocalist Evelyn Wright Thursday, December 31, at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
